About This Event

We are hosting a Hackathon to bring together talented thinkers and coders to collaborate in small groups and create programs within 18 hours.

What will happen:

At the event participants will break into various small groups and decide on an idea to program. From mobile app, website application, desktop application, or games. From using APIs to prebuilt frameworks, everything is up for grabs, the limit is your imagination.

Why will this event rock?

The event is structured to be exhilarating and ‘sitting-on-the-edge-of-your-seat’ exciting and thus bring buzz and fun to the attendees.

You get to code, network, and have a blast! Think of your resume and the experience this could be for you!

When: December 3rd (6pm) – December 4th (Noon)

Where: UW-Whitewater in Hyland Hall Atrium

University of Wisconsin Whitewater is hosting a ‘Hack-a-thon’ where students and members of the extended community come together to ‘hack’ together code within 18 hours to create a functional product. Projects will be created and picked by the attendees. Teams will be formed in which attendees plan, collaborate, and create a product together. The event is structured to be exhilarating and ‘sitting-on-the-edge-of-your-seat’ exciting and thus bring buzz and fun to the attendees.

Rules

Because we sadly all have to have some rules.

Rules for everyone

  • You may bring your own notebook with wireless access. We will have guest access on the campus for the hackathon. You will be required to agree to the campus acceptable computing use policy.
  • You may not bring in any wireless routers. In fact, if the campus network detects two different MAC addresses comping from the same IP address, it will shut the port down.
  • You may not start development on whatever you are going to develop at the Hackathon prior to the Hackathon if you are competing in any of the competitive categories.
  • You may not bring any alcohol or illegal drugs. The campus building are also smoke free.

Rules for minors

If you are under 18 years old you must have a signed permission slip to attend the Hackathon by your parent or legal guardian. In addition you will not be allowed to leave the building during the night unless your parent or legal guardian picks you up.

Guidelines

The recommended group size for development is 2-4 people. However this just a recommendation.
